Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma from the department of English literature. Mitchell began her career as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. She joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. A few years later, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. In 1981 she started reporting from the White House. In 1988, she became the chief reporter for Congress. Mitchell was named the chief White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell hosted and was panelists on the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell participated on a panel during the debate in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times for journalism excellence, including her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. Mitchell was also awarded with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award by Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell was the very first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan as president between 1981 and 1988. Mitchell covered a range of notable stories, including arms control the budget tax reform and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell was frequently along with the president Reagan for summits alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
